I was reminded today while out for a run that the time we spend doing things that aren’t planned is often where we find the great pleasure. Keith Urban sings a fabulous song named “Wasted Time” and it’s on my running play list, so as I listened to the words, I started thinking about my own life and how busy I am.
We live in busy times and can access almost anything we want at anytime of the day or night. We live over-scheduled and over-planned to the point of exhaustion. We spend a lot of time looking at our phones, staring at computers or watching TV.
So, I invited you to set a side a day in the very near future (and I will too), and don’t plan anything. Disconnect from all your electronic devices and go with the flow. Get outside, look at the beauty around you, smell the flowers, breathe in the fresh air and be present in your life. It will most likely be uncomfortable at first but I think if we give it a chance we might find happiness.
